About the Tyne PWC
The Tyne Port Welfare Committee (PWC) covers the ports on the North Sea coast, from the East Scottish border to Seaham. The committee reflects the diverse nature of the maritime community in the Tyne region with members representing a wide range of maritime agencies and societies involved with seafarers’ welfare
The PWC meets three times a year to discuss the welfare of seafarers visiting their ports, working together to ensure that seafarers can expect and receive a high standard of care and facilities in line with MLC 2006 and ISPS 2004. As well as providing mutual support and the opportunity to network with colleagues from across the maritime sector, PWC meetings also provide an opportunity to brief members on national policies and issues that may be relevant to visiting or resident seafarers and their families.
