The TK Foundation is the MNWB’s Gold Sponsor for its flagship Port Welfare Conference in Liverpool from September 11-12.
The conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool, which will be attended by representatives from the Board’s Port Welfare Committees, seafarers’ centres, port chaplains and heads of societies from welfare charities across the maritime sector, aims to spotlight the vital role of individuals providing frontline welfare assistance to seafarers and fishers in UK ports and Gibraltar.
ABOUT OUR GOLD SPONSOR
The TK Foundation is a private independent foundation organised in the Bahamas in 2002.
The Foundation is named after J. Torben Karlshoej, “T.K.”, who grew up on a farm in Denmark and later founded the Teekay Shipping Company, now Teekay Corporation.
The TK Foundation’s mission is to fulfill the legacy of J. Torben Karlshoej by enabling young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities to succeed, promoting maritime education and training, and projects that support the welfare needs of seafarers.
Since its inception, The TK Foundation has awarded over $46 million in grants to non-profit organizations and projects to improve the life of seafarers and the lives of disadvantaged youth.
The Maritime Grants Program supports projects and programs that improve the health, safety and welfare of seafarers, maritime education and training, and maritime research to improve the lives of seafarers. We also support sailing projects, environmental projects and programs that shed light on maritime history.
